The Valley Federation
Meeting of FGB on 12/1/26
The second full governing body meeting of the year due to be held in early December was postponed through illness until January 12th 2026. Ben Acty chaired in my absence.
Governors welcomed Jane Scott back to the Governing Body and also Phil Rogers to his first meeting. Governors also agreed to the appointment of Rose Potter as a governor.
Mrs Winfield presented her report, covering, at both schools, pupil numbers, staff and class attendance, safeguarding, finance and teaching and learning improvement issues.
My Chair’s report covered the delay of the White Paper on the future of Multi-Academy Trusts. I said that “It remains a clear action for Governors and Headteacher to see what the options are locally for any extension of the Valley Federation”. Derbyshire County Council’s finances, Local Government reform and the potential Government re-imagining of SEND reform were also noted in the report.
The SIAMS inspection self-evaluation form has now been completed – we anticipate the visit will be this term.
Revised policies on admission and exclusion were approved.
Governors thanked the Headteacher for leading so successfully and professionally last term and building a positive reputation for the Federation.
Best wishes
John Payne
Chair of Governors
