Meeting of FGB on 22/9/25

The first full governing body meeting of the year is a kind of AGM, where Chair and Vice Chair are elected, and there is a general round-up of any new information or experiences since the last meeting at the end of the summer term.

I was re-elected as Chair for another year. I said that at the end of the summer term 2026 I would be stepping down as Chair (after being chair of Edale governors from Jan 2017 to August 2019, and chair of Valley Federation governors since September 2019). Ben Acty was elected as Vice Chair.

We have had a number of governors joining or leaving. Phil Rogers has joined us as the safeguarding lead among governors. Chris Wright, who has been a governor with a focus on finances since 2006 (with an 18 month break) has decided to resign. We are very grateful to Chris for all the work he has done scrutinising and supporting the schools' management of their finances. Jane Scott will be rejoining us as a governor,  which is excellent news, but we will be saying goodbye also to Angela Bradley who has been chair of the Well-Being Committee for some years and has shared her broad professional experience in safe-guarding and well-being issues very helpfully with governors and staff.
